Church’s Annual Surf Contest to Raise Funds
In an effort to raise money for local groups, South County Community Church will hold its third annual South County Beach Outreach and a surf contest today and Sunday at the San Clemente Pier.
Last year, the church raised $3,000 through surfing competition fees and sales for the local chapter of the Surfrider Foundation and the San Clemente and Dana Hills high school surf teams, according to Bryan Gilbert of South County Church.
This year, the beneficiaries are Surfrider Foundation, San Clemente and Capistrano Valley high schools and the San Clemente Skate Park Coalition.
The entry fee for the surfing contest is $35.
