Lancaster Stampeded, 4-2

Karl Thompson had three hits, drove in one run and scored another, but Lancaster suffered a 4-2 defeat to the San Bernardino Stampede at the Ranch in San Bernardino on Thursday night.

Ismael Valdes (1-0) gave up seven hits and two runs in 6 1/3 innings in his second rehabilitation start.

SUNS

Manny Gagliano’s solo home run in the 10th inning gave the Mission Viejo Vigilantes a 5-4 victory over Pacific at Oxnard.

Rafael Ozuna had three hits for the Suns, including an RBI-single in the ninth that sent the game into extra innings.

Triple-A: Right-hander Bryan Corey (Thousand Oaks High, Pierce College), a relief pitcher most of the season for Tucson, allowed one earned run in four innings of a start against Fresno, but took the loss and fell to 4-6. Corey has an earned-run average of 4.92 in 37 appearances. . . . Kevin Appier (Antelope Valley) continued his rehabilitation assignment at Omaha, allowing five hits and three runs in five innings against Oklahoma. Appier is 3-2 in six starts and his ERA is 7.03.

Double-A: Catcher Frank Charles (Montclair Prep) hit his 39th double for Shreveport.

Class-A: Catcher Casey Snow (Crespi) had two hits for San Bernardino and is batting .294. . . . Will Skett (Reseda, Valley College) had two hits to raise his average to .323. . . . Junior Brignac (Cleveland) doubled, singled, stole his 14th base, and is batting .237 for Eugene. Casey Cheshier (Highland, Cal State Northridge) hit a three-run home run in Eugene’s 7-3 victory over Salem-Keizer.
