Katella’s Victory Is Danley’s 600th

Coach Tom Danley earned his 600th victory as Katella defeated Bolsa Grande, 75-53, in the Bolsa Grande boys’ basketball tournament Friday.

Danley has been coaching at the school since it opened in 1966.

Robert Abercrombie scored 20 of his 30 points in the first half to help Katella to a 46-20 halftime lead.

Brandon Jordan scored 13 points for the Knights (3-0), who play Marina in the championship at 8 tonight at Bolsa Grande.

David Ly scored 15 points for Bolsa Grande (2-1).

In other Bolsa Grande tournament games:

Marina 53, Laguna Beach 44--Dustin Kaatz scored 18 points and Beau Brown 16 as Marina (3-0) advanced to tonight’s championship with the pool-play victory.

Kurt Beimfohr scored 16 points for Laguna Beach (2-1). The Artists were held to 16 second-half points, after trailing 29-28, at the half.

Savanna 72, Santa Ana 56--Solomon Brown and Alan Purnel each scored 24 points for Savanna (1-2). Purnel had 12 assists.

Erik Nararro led Santa Ana (0-3) with 13 points, and teammates Eliu and Hardy Fatu each scored 10.

In the Coyote Classic:

Buena Park 60, Saddleback 43--Matt Okoroo had 24 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots to lead the Coyotes to the championship game tonight.

Buena Park will play Lakewood Mayfair at 7:30 p.m. at Buena Park.

Lakewood Mayfair 81, Magnolia 58--Josh Childres scored 20 points and Jesus Miranda scored 19 for Mayfair.

Geoffrey Clayton scored 20 points, Sohayl Saboori scored 17 and Asi Faoa 11 for Magnolia.

Rancho Alamitos 75, Kennedy 71 (OT)--Willie Montgomery scored 31 and Omar Pryce scored 13--10 in the second half--for Rancho Alamitos (2-1). Kennedy is 1-2.

In the National Sports Grill tournament:

Irvine 46, Troy 45--Troy missed a shot at the buzzer and the host Vaqueros (3-0) advanced to the championship game against Santa Margarita at 8:15 tonight.

Chris Ferguson led Irvine with 15 points. Kyle Fulmer scored 15 for Troy.

Santa Margarita 68, San Bernardino Pacific 62--Chaun Ballard scored 25 points, including seven three-pointers. Chris Smith scored 14 points and James Burries 13.

Loara 57, Woodbridge 51--Herb Gracia scored 18 points and Wes Wardrop 18 to lead Loara in a consolation game. The Saxons (2-1) today play Whittier California, which beat El Dorado, 65-53.

In the Orange Lutheran tournament:

Bakersfield Graces 81, Orange 69--Steven Miller scored 24 points and Tion Demyers had 18 points and seven assists to lead Orange in the pool-play victory. Orange will play Anaheim for third-place today.

In the San Luis Obispo tournament:

Laguna Hills 69, Santa Barbara San Marcos 55--Josh Pierson scored 24 points, including five three-pointers, to lead Laguna Hills to a consolation victory. Mike Casillas scored 18 for San Marcos.
