ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Jason Cunningham

Men’s Basketball

Cunningham had career highs of 13 points and 12 rebounds in the Titan victory at Loyola Marymount, then scored 13 points again Saturday when Fullerton defeated St. Mary’s.

Coach Bob Hawking said Cunningham’s defense against St. Mary’s standout Eric Schraeder was one of the keys to Fullerton’s victory Saturday.

Cunningham, who played at Los Alamitos High and for one season at Fullerton College, won an appeal to the NCAA to play this season. He was erroneously ordered to sit out the 1996-97 season by the NCAA after transferring from Nevada Las Vegas even though he didn’t play for the Rebels the previous season. “I feel blessed just being able to play this year,” Cunningham said.
