Leiweke Issues Written Apology

In a letter to season-ticket holders, team President Tim Leiweke apologized for the Kings’ play and asked for “your patience and continued support.”

“Although the injuries to Stephane Fiset, Jamie Storr, Jozef Stumpel, Rob Blake, Doug Bodger, Russ Courtnall, Steve McKenna, etc., have been the major reason for these struggles, we are certain that it has been very frustrating for you, just as it is for us,” Leiweke wrote.

“We still believe in this team and we are still confident that we will be back in the playoffs once we get our key players back on ice. Hopefully, you will judge us on the entire season, not just the last month.”

The Kings were 2-10-1 during November.

Leiweke said that the Kings will make the playoffs.

“I still believe in this team, and I still believe in this coach,” he said.

Olli Jokinen, a 19-year-old rookie, was a healthy scratch Wednesday for the second time this season, and he was no happier about it than the first.

When it was suggested that he might learn something by watching, Jokinen said, “You learn by being a player. If you play, you can watch tape after the game.”
