From Staff Reports

Former Newbury Park High shortstop David Lamb was the second pick in the major league Rule 5 Draft on Monday, going to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

A Rule 5 pick must remain on the major league roster of the team that drafted him for the entire following season or he is returned to the original team.

Lamb, a second-round draft choice by the Baltimore Orioles in 1993, split the 1998 season in triple-A and double-A for the Orioles.
