Utah 89, Loyola Marymount 55--Jeremy Killion scored 15 of his 18 points in the second half, and Hanno Mottola had 16 points and eight rebounds as the Utes pounded the Lions at Salt Lake City.

A mere blowout loss turned into an embarrassment for the Lions midway through the second half when Utah (6-4) made a 16-0 run and held Loyola Marymount (4-5) scoreless for 5:39. Andre Miller, who finished with 14 points and eight assists, had six points and three assists during the run.

All five Utah starters finished in double figures, and the Utes shot 57.4%, including 64% in the second half. Freshman Phil Cullen had five of Utah’s nine blocked shots.

Utah led, 38-22, at halftime, and Killion made four three-point baskets in the first 3:48 of the second half to put the Utes ahead, 52-28. Mottola and Alex Jensen, who finished with 12 points and six rebounds, each had two three-point baskets.

Forward Ed Wolfe scored 11 of Loyola Marymount’s 22 first-half points and finished with a team-best 21 points and six rebounds. The Lions shot 29.5% and had 14 turnovers.
