Esperanza Athletes Decide on Colleges

Esperanza offensive lineman Nate Steinbacher and punter Bob Sparks have made commitments to four-year schools, Aztec Coach Gary Meek said. Steinbacher, a 6-foot-5, 320-pound first-team All-Sunset League selection, committed to USC. Sparks has accepted an appointment to the Naval Academy.

Dana Hills quarterback Jeremy Walker has made a commitment to attend Northern Arizona next fall, Dana Hills Coach Scott Orloff said.
Walker’s 1998 season was hindered by injuries to his right knee and right hamstring sustained in the season-opener against El Toro.
In his two varsity seasons, Walker passed for 2,314 yards and 19 touchdowns. He also ran for 687 yards and nine touchdowns.

John Ross-Duggan and Corky Aucreman, both of Newport Beach, were selected to the 1999 United States disabled sailing team, USA Sailing announced Tuesday.
