* LONG BEACH STATE (3-6) at NORTHWESTERN (6-2), 11 a.m. PST--The 49ers, who have lost their last three games, play their third consecutive Midwestern opponent. They lost at Southwest Missouri State, 80-52, on Dec. 9 and at home to Kansas State, 90-77, on Dec. 12. Their best player has been sophomore guard Ramel “Rock” Lloyd, a transfer from Syracuse. He is averaging 17.7 points and scored a career-high 36 against Kansas State. The 49ers’ biggest problem has been poor rebounding. That could be trouble against Northwestern and its 6-11 center, Evan Eschmeyer. The two-time All-Big Ten selection is averaging 21.3 points and 8.9 rebounds. But if Eschmeyer is off, so is Northwestern, which has only one other player averaging double figures in points, freshman guard David Newman at 10.1.
