Perreault Is Ready to Get Back in Lineup

For the second consecutive game, Yanic Perreault was a healthy scratch for the Kings’ 1-0 loss at Edmonton on Monday night. Coach Larry Robinson did not say that Perreault would be back in the lineup for tonight’s game at Calgary but he did promise some personnel changes.

“It’s hard when [a team is winning] because you don’t want to make too many changes,” said Perreault, who leads the team with 20 goals. “But, I’ve been working hard in practices and I can’t wait to get back in the lineup. I’m going to work harder and try to do a little bit more than I’ve done lately.”

Following Monday’s loss, the Kings quickly turned their sights to getting back on a winning streak heading into the Olympic break, which begins Sunday.

“You can’t win every night and we had a good little run here but the trick is now to get [tonight’s] game,” center Ray Ferraro said. “You don’t want to start giving points away that you’ve just gained. So many times you’ll see a team win five in a row and then lose four in a row. If we want to be a team considered to be moving up, we have to turn it right back and win.”

Winger Craig Johnson suffered a bruised side against Edmonton and is listed as day-to-day. . . . . The Kings’ scratches Monday were Steve McKenna, Doug Zmolek and Perreault.

The Kings hope to rebound from Monday’s loss and defeat the second-worst team in the Western Conference tonight. Said Rob Blake: “[Tonight] is a very big game for us now. We had four games to go before the break and to win three of them would have us sitting real pretty for the stretch run and we still have that opportunity.”
