Wright Finally Rebounds From Knee, Ankle Injuries

Share

Forward-center Lorenzen Wright, who averaged 16.4 rebounds over eight games before sitting out seven games because of knee and ankle injuries last month, had 17 rebounds in Sunday’s 99-92 loss to the Indiana Pacers.

Wright, starting his second consecutive game at center in place of Stojko Vrankovic, had 12 defensive rebounds and five offensive rebounds. He added 10 points.

It was his best game since he grabbed 19 rebounds in a loss at Boston on Dec. 21.

“I had a lot of rebounds, but I’m still off,” Wright said. “I’m getting a little winded, but that comes with playing. I’m almost there.

“I’m still off on timing. I probably could have had five or six more rebounds. I’ll be in the gym every day until I get it right.”

Rookie forward Maurice Taylor, held to five points and five rebounds in 19 minutes during Friday’s loss to the San Antonio Spurs, had 14 points and five rebounds against the Pacers.

“The mark of a good player is that he doesn’t have two bad games in a row,” Taylor said.
