Temple Wins at UMass

Rasheed Brokenborough made two long three-point shots to highlight a pivotal second-half run and Lamont Barnes scored 18 points as Temple won at the Mullins Center in Amherst, Mass., for the first time in eight tries, defeating 24th-ranked Massachusetts, 61-47.

Temple (13-6, 6-3 in Atlantic 10) broke open a 28-26 game by scoring 11 consecutive points. Massachusetts (16-6, 8-1), which returned to the Associated Press poll for the first time since Nov. 25, 1996, had a 10-game winning streak ended.

No. 13 South Carolina 65, Vanderbilt 61--B.J. McKie scored 15 points at Nashville, leading the Gamecocks (17-3, 7-3 in Southeastern Conference) to their seventh victory in a row. The Commodores are 15-7 and 4-5.

No. 15 West Virginia 90, Pittsburgh 72--Jarrod West scored 18 points and Damian Owens added 16 at Morgantown, W. Va. West made three three-point baskets as the Mountaineers (19-3, 9-3 in Big East) handed the Panthers (7-10, 2-8) their fifth loss in a row.

No. 24 Iowa 79, Wisconsin 76--Freshman Ricky Davis scored 25 points as the Hawkeyes (16-6, 5-4 in Big Ten) rallied in the second half at Madison, Wis., to end a four-game losing streak. Wisconsin is 10-12, 3-7.
