Low-Priced Handbags Add to Store’s List of Accessories

SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

I revisited one of my favorite bargain haunts recently, the Alley in the Valley, and stopped at A Touch of Spring.

The accessory source appeared in this column four years ago, but since then the store has added some categories of merchandise. Handbags, for instance. The polyurethane product that many of the top designers are showing (lightweight and easy to clean) and selling for $45 are tagged between $18 and $35.

You’ll always find a good selection of hats and costume jewelry here. Western hats in both straw and felt are $25 (retail $45) and some nice pieces of sterling and marquisite from Switzerland are deeply discounted.

It’s time to update your bargain hunter’s notebook. You can delete Deals I’m sorry to report, but it may resurface sometime soon.

Jeri’s Place North, an outlet store for the Annabella label, has closed its doors on Business Center Drive but opened a retail store on the second floor of the Promenade Mall, 6100 Topanga Canyon Blvd. (818) 727-1270. The apparel has the same flair, of course, but the prices are a bit higher than at the outlet.

Cissy’s Designer Outlet in Corbin Plaza is no more. We have also seen the last of New Kids on the Boulevard, an outlet for children’s apparel.

Custom Furniture Creations no longer deals in clocks but its expertise in creating or restoring furniture continues--and at surprising prices. 18369 Eddy St., Northridge. (818) 773-8692.
