Fullerton’s McCue Makes Only At-Bat Count

Fullerton’s Mike McCue hit a two-run home run in his only at-bat to cap a 9-8 victory over Santa Barbara in a nonconference baseball game Thursday at Fullerton.
The Hornets trailed by six when Santa Barbara scored six runs in the sixth inning to take an 8-2 lead. But in the bottom of the inning, Fullerton rallied for five runs with two outs to close the gap to 8-7.
Bo Bryant led off the seventh inning with a walk before McCue homered to give the Hornets (7-4-1) the lead.
Jon Knott had three hits for Santa Barbara (1-5).
In another nonconference baseball game:
Palomar 10, Orange Coast 0--Mike Bottomley had a grand slam and a one-run double for host Palomar. Darrell Berck gave up four hits and walked none in seven innings to pick up his first victory for Palomar (3-1).
Orange Coast is 6-4.
In the Apple Photo softball tournament:
Cypress 4, Long Beach 0 (5, time limit)--Kelly Humphries had a two-run single in Cypress’ four-run third inning. Reanna Mendoza gave up eight hits in the shutout.
Cypress 2, Santa Ana 1 (6, time limit)--Gillian Tantardini’s two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning won the game for Cypress.
