* PEPPERDINE (16-9, 8-5) at PORTLAND (14-11, 7-6), 7, KIEV (870)--Pepperdine pulled within a game of first place with a 65-64 upset over West Coast Conference leader Gonzaga on Thursday and can secure a high seeding for the WCC tournament next week by beating Portland in a regular-season finale. The Waves are 3-0 since center omm’A Givens was suspended for the season, reducing the roster to eight players, seven on scholarship. Pepperdine routed Portland, 72-47, last month in Malibu. The Pilots ended a four-game losing streak Thursday with a 71-68 victory over last-place Loyola Marymount.
