Fitch Can’t Win for Losing

Clipper Coach Bill Fitch and Red Auerbach remain tied with 938 coaching victories apiece, second behind Atlanta Hawk Coach Lenny Wilkens, who is at 1,090 and counting.

Auerbach is long retired, giving Fitch the advantage, but only a slight one.

Fitch has been stuck on 938 for six games.

And considering that the Clippers play the Pacific Division-leading Seattle SuperSonics tonight, Fitch figures to be stuck there longer.

Center Isaac Austin and guard Charles Smith, obtained from the Miami Heat in a trade Thursday, got in their first full session of practice with their new teammates Sunday.

Austin played in Saturday night’s loss to the Charlotte Hornets, but suffered at times because of his unfamiliarity with the Clippers.
