Lineup Juggling Continues

Coach Henry Bibby tried his sixth starting lineup Tuesday against Tennessee, but it didn’t change things for the Trojans, who have lost five in a row and, at 4-6, are off to their worst 10-game start in 10 years.

With junior guard Elias Ayuso sidelined because of an ankle injury and senior forward Gary Williams bothered by flu, Bibby began the game with four freshman: Jeff Trepagnier, Greg Lakey, Shannon Swillis and Kevin Augustine. Senior point guard Gary Johnson was the only veteran in the lineup.

It was the first start for Trepagnier. Bibby had hinted that he wanted to reward the former Compton High standout for his recent performances.

In the last four games, Trepagnier has played relentless defense--blocking shots, stealing passes, diving for loose balls. “I’ve got a lot more confidence now,” Trepagnier said. “After the Kansas game, I felt like I could help this team.”
