* Dance. Making its first West Coast appearance in more than 16 years, National Ballet of Cuba presents Pedro Consuegra’s full-length “Cinderella” (music by Johann Strauss II) at the Orange County Performing Arts Center, 600 Town Center Drive, Costa Mesa from Jan. 20 to 25. * Film. The Alex Film Society of Glendale’s refurbished Alex Theater will present the classic 1954 MGM musical “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” Jan. 24 at 2 and 8 p.m. Howard Keel and Jane Powell starred in this tale of seven brothers who want to marry. Stanley Donen directed, and Michael Kidd choreographed. The film will be presented with a cartoon and newsreel of the period, and various cast members will speak before the 8 p.m. screening. 216 N. * Film. The UCLA Film Archive will present “Contemporary Latin American Films,” a series of nine films screening Jan. 24-Feb. 8 at the James Bridges Theater, Melnitz Hall, UCLA. The series begins with the Los Angeles premiere of Patricio Guzman’s “Chile--The Obstinate Memory,” in which the maker of the landmark “Battle of Chile” trilogy, chronicling the overthrow of President Salvador Allende, returns to Chile to discover a whole generation of citizens unaware of all that happened 25 years ago.
