Even if you haven’t scored a ticket to the Super Bowl, you can still get in the spirit at San Diego’s Super Fest XXXII. The free entertainment festival in downtown’s Gaslamp Quarter will include four outdoor stages with bands, magicians, jugglers, performing-arts groups, beer gardens and a children’s venue featuring wild animal presentations by the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park, and Sea World characters. Headlining bands include the Violent Femmes, Neville Brothers, Sister Hazel, Ozomatli, Big Sandy and his Fly-Rite Boys, Skanic, Big Time Operator and Loaf.

Comedy trio Culture Clash--Richard Montoya, Ric Salinas and Herbert Siguenza--star in Aristophanes’ “The Birds,” a comic romp about men who battle angry gods and meddling humans while trying to create their ideal republic in the realm of birds. Opens Friday at South Coast Repertory.

More than 40 pieces of memorabilia from pop icons from the ‘60s to the ‘80s will be on display at Christie’s this weekend. The pop Americana, which Christie’s will auction next month in New York, includes Timothy Leary’s mushroom recipe and hookah water pipe; Janis Joplin’s feather boa and bell bottoms; pages from John Lennon’s “Imagine”; Bob Marley’s expired American Express card and his acoustic guitar; Jimi Hendrix’s velvet jacket; and Sid Vicious’ notebook.

“Pablo Picasso: Works From the Estate and Selected Loans” is a mini survey of the artist’s work. Among paintings on view will be a portrait of the artist’s mistress, Marie-Therese Walter, from 1932; one of the largest works from his Mediterranean studio, painted in the 1950s; as well as works from 1969 and 1971, his last years.

Classical guitarist Manuel Barrueco’s recordings have embraced the entirety of his instrument’s history, from Boccherini to Villa-Lobos.
