3 & 8 pm: Books/Music

Author and recent Hollywood producer Elmore Leonard (“Jackie Brown”) does West Hollywood this weekend, first with a book signing of “Cuba Libre,” his newest work that’s already been sold to the filmmaking Coen brothers. Later he’ll do a spoken-word and music event with the Stone Coyotes at the Viper Room. The connection between Leonard and the Stone Coyotes began last summer when the author was in Los Angeles researching his new novel, a sequel to “Get Shorty.” The sequel places its lead character, Chili Palmer, in the music business, and Leonard was looking for the perfect band to anchor the story. After seeing the Stone Coyotes at the Troubadour, a partnership was formed.
