Time to Substitute is Now for the Clippers and Fitch

I am stunned at this paper’s coverage of--and Los Angeles’ acceptance of--the incredibly dreadful Clippers. I awoke this morning to a mind-numbing expose of . . . Bill Fitch’s substitution policy? Are you kidding? How about an article about how this team is an embarrassment to the city as well as the NBA?

The team is bad and dull, their arena is third rate, their fans (understandably numb from decades of a terrible team) have forgotten how to root, their promotions are worthy of a CBA cow town, and parking for big games at the Sports Arena--that is, games where the Clippers are playing a good team--is pathetic.

Whenever Bill Fitch’s previous triumphs are mentioned, topping the list is how he “turned around” the Celtics, won coach of the year in 1980 and the NBA championship the next season.
