Bob Webb, girls’ basketball coach at Montclair Prep who played on national championship teams at UCLA in 1971-72 and ‘72-73, had an opportunity to reunite with former teammate Bill Walton last weekend.

Webb stopped by the Hall of Fame center’s home in San Diego on the way to the Super Bowl on Sunday.

When Webb arrived with friends who are Denver Bronco fans, he said they were greeted by a 6-foot-11 redhead talking trash about the Green Bay Packers and former NBA star Maurice Lucas, who was wearing a Cheesehead.

Walton and Lucas were teammates on the Portland Trail Blazers’ 1976-77 NBA championship team.

“We stopped by Walton’s place again after the game,” Webb said. “Bill changed his tune. He was saying, ‘Go, Broncos.’ Maurice just said he tipped his [cheese] hat to the Broncos.”
