Council Urged to Meet in Neighborhoods

Councilman Dave Garofalo has proposed holding several City Council meetings at various neighborhoods this year.
At a recent meeting, Garofalo proposed holding the meetings at Marina and Edison high schools or Goldenwest College to better reach the community.
“I think we could easily put issues on the agenda that pertain to a certain area,” Garofalo said. “We need to do this at least once a year. It’s the right thing to do.”
Garofalo said he hopes the first neighborhood meeting occurs in the southeast part of the city. Some residents there have complained they feel neglected by city government because there has never been a council member from the area.
A decision is expected in several months.
