3 Arrested in Rampage of 14 Holdups in 3 Hours
Three Inglewood men were arrested at a Manhattan Beach gas station after a robbery rampage--14 holdups in just over three hours--that spanned the South Bay, police said.
The first three stickups took place in Manhattan Beach beginning about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, police said. Then came robberies in Los Angeles, Culver City and Inglewood. No one was seriously hurt in the rampage, police said.
Police said the robberies followed a similar pattern. Three men in a white BMW approached a pedestrian, waved a gun and demanded cash. Their take, police said, sometimes proved skimpy--in one instance, the bandits made off with $10 and a pair of sunglasses, Manhattan Beach Police Sgt. Vince Leone said.
About 11:30 p.m., Manhattan Beach police followed a white BMW into a service station at Sepulveda and Manhattan Beach boulevards. The three men inside the car--Marcus Baisley, 18, Stanzik Hayes, 20, and Raymond Staples, 18--were arrested and booked on suspicion of a variety of robbery and assault charges, police said. Each was being held on $75,000 bail.
