Road Construction May Cause Traffic Delays

Share

Officials at the Port of Long Beach are warning Terminal Island commuters of possible delays as construction continues on Ocean Boulevard to upgrade and widen most of the road between the Gerald Desmond Bridge and Navy Way.

Open sections of the roadway are down to two lanes in each direction between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. during the 15-month project, a port spokesman said. At nights and weekends, only one lane will be open in each direction.

Construction crews are repairing a mile-long stretch of badly deteriorated road, widening lanes to meet state standards and adding improved street lighting. Work began last week.

Commuters are advised to use an alternative route while construction continues.
