Bullfrogs Past Test by Beating the Vultures

The Bullfrogs, facing what is expected to be their toughest competition in Major League Roller Hockey, defeated the Virginia Vultures, 6-4, Tuesday at the Richmond Coliseum.

The Bullfrogs (6-0) struck first in a game that started 45 minutes late because of a wet floor, taking a 2-0 lead at the half on goals by Mark Woolf and Darren Perkins. The Bullfrogs, who were averaging a league-high 14.2 goals coming into the game, led 5-1 after three quarters.

The Vultures (6-1), averaging 13.5 goals, scored three in the fourth quarter. Hugo Belanger, a former Bullfrog and the league’s leading scorer with 23 goals and 42 points coming in, was held without a goal. He had three assists.

Bullfrog goaltender Rob Laurie had 34 saves.


Woolf scored two goals for the Bullfrogs, who are on a five-game trip that continues tonight against the Crushers in Clemmons, N.C.

Virginia player/coach Scott Burfoot scored three goals.
