Zoning Hearing Planned for Proposed School
- Share via
City zoning officials will hear public testimony today regarding a conditional use permit being sought by the Archer School, a girls school located in Pacific Palisades that purchased a former retirement home on Sunset Boulevard.
School officials want permission to convert the Eastern Star Home to a school for sixth- through 12th-graders. They also seek several variances, including one that would allow construction of a gymnasium and parking lots on the property.
The proposed school has sparked controversy in the community, with some residents saying another educational institution in the already school-dotted area will result in too much traffic and noise. Others would welcome the addition of the well-respected school to Brentwood.
The hearing before the city zoning administrator will begin at 10 a.m. in the third-floor Grand Ballroom at the Olympic Collection Banquet and Conference Center, 11301 Olympic Blvd.
