SAN CLEMENTE--Life’s a beach at the 22nd annual San Clemente Ocean Festival next weekend, July 18-19, with the California Waterman and Waterwoman championships, paddleboard, surf ski and dory races, ocean swims, rubber duck races and more. LAKE TAHOE--Fine arts and crafts, wine and microbrew tastings and live jazz will be offered at the Lake Tahoe Fine Art & Wine Festival next weekend. 10 a.m.-6 p.m. July 17-18, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. July 19. IMPERIAL BEACH--Sandcastles fit for a king will be created by the world’s top sand sculptors at the 18th annual U.S. Open Sand Castles to the Sky Competition next weekend, July 17-19. July 18 highlights include a parade, 10 a.m.-noon, on Elm Street, Seacoast Drive, and Palm and 5th streets; a Kids-N-Castles competition open to children 12 and under, 2-3 p.m., Municipal Pier (call [619] 421-5359 to register); and a free fireworks display at sunset. On July 17, sculptors take to the sand for the main sand castle competition, 8 a.m.-1 p.m., followed by awards at 4 p.m. on the main stage. Corner of Seacoast Drive and Daisy Avenue.
