Nagy May Be Headed to Bullpen

Charles Nagy, who gave up his 26th homer on Sunday, may not remain a starter for the Cleveland Indians.

Nagy is leading the majors in homers allowed after signing a $24 million, four-year contract extension and could be headed to the bullpen after giving up six runs and nine hits in 4 1/3 innings in an 11-6 loss to the Minnesota Twins.

“I’m not saying it’s going to happen, but it very well could,” Cleveland Manager Mike Hargrove. “If it does happen, I don’t expect Charlie to take it well. If Charlie starts pitching well, we don’t go down that road.”

Arthur Rhodes, who hasn’t pitched since July 4 because of an elbow injury, became the seventh Baltimore Oriole pitcher to be placed on the disabled list this season.
