Foodie Comedy

Share

Gareth Blackstock is a chef with the perfectionist soul of an artist and the scabrous tongue of a longshoreman. Starring Lenny Henry, the BBC comedy series “Chef!” has developed a cult following among foodies, though it has rarely been broadcast in the United States (and never, as far as we can tell, in Southern California).

Now you can find out what all the fuss is about. The first six episodes have been released in this country by CBS/Fox Video and are available on Amazon.com. The bit where Blackstock rips into a sous chef who somehow lost track of a bandage while preparing for dinner service is worth the price of admission by itself. And then there’s the one where the pompous yuppie ill-advisedly asks for salt. . . .

“Chef!” and “Chef! A Second Helping,” $16.99 each plus shipping. Though they are available from Amazon.com, it is difficult to find them on that site. It is easier to order the videos from Amazon.com through the Chef! home page: https://feenix.metronet.com/~apogee/chef/
