City officials will open a new 24-acre park later this month with two softball fields, three lighted basketball courts, two tennis courts and picnic and meeting facilities.

City and county dignitaries will dedicate Pantera Park, on Pantera and Bow Creek drives, July 25. It will be the city’s 11th park and the first new one since Diamond Bar’s incorporation in 1989, city officials said.

Mike Nelson, the city’s director of communications and marketing, said the park will also be the “first to have input from [the] community on its construction.”

The park has been under construction for the last few years. Officials hope to open the park for public use next week, before the official dedication, Nelson said.
