Late Scoring Helps Bullfrogs Stay Unbeaten

Sparked by a late third-quarter goal, the Bullfrogs broke loose in the final quarter and remained unbeaten with a 17-6 Major League Roller Hockey victory Wednesday over the New York Riot at Buffalo.

The victory was the 14th for the Bullfrogs, who improved their lead in the World Division to 22 points over second-place Washington.

But the Bullfrogs led only 7-6 late in the third quarter before Glenn Stewart scored with four seconds remaining. They closed out the game by outscoring the Riot, 9-0, in the fourth quarter.

Sandy Gasseau, who had a hat trick in the fourth quarter, had four goals, as did Stewart. Mark Woolf had five goals, pushing his season total to 25.

The game was played in the Buffalo Wings home arena at Buffalo State College in order to accommodate the Bullfrogs’ congested road schedule. The Bullfrogs will play the Wings on Friday night.

The Bullfrogs announced Wednesday that Victor Gervais, their all-time leading scorer, will play for them next Wednesday against the Virginia Vultures at the Arrowhead Pond.

Gervais, who scored 107 goals in 96 roller hockey games, had been taking the season off to recuperate from the ice hockey season with the Hampton Roads Admirals of the East Coast Hockey League.
