A woman suffered serious head injuries Tuesday when she was ejected from a motorcycle that crashed on Westlake Boulevard, a sheriff’s deputy said.

Lakewood resident Ying Yan, 26, suffered internal head injuries and a possible skull fracture and was in serious condition after being airlifted to Los Robles Regional Medical Center, Deputy John Popp said Tuesday night.

The motorcycle’s driver, Allister Robinson, 43, of Long Beach, was treated for cuts and bruises on the right side of his body, Popp said. The pair were both wearing helmets but Yan may have landed on her head, Popp said.

Yan and Robinson had been shopping at The Oaks mall in Thousand Oaks before the 2:45 p.m. crash, according to Popp. They were traveling south on Westlake Boulevard and had just passed through the Potrero Road intersection when Robinson lost control of his Harley-Davidson, Popp said.

Drugs and alcohol were not involved and Robinson has told deputies he only remembers his motorcycle fish-tailing before the crash, Popp said. Evidence at the scene suggests Robinson skidded several feet before he and Yan were thrown off.

Westlake Boulevard was shut down in both directions for about 10 minutes while the rescue helicopter landed.
