Vigilantes Score Three in Ninth but Fall to Chico
The Vigilantes scored three runs in the ninth but still lost to host Chico, 4-3, in a Western League baseball game Friday.
Michael Moore had a two-out double in the ninth for the Vigilantes and scored on Tim McDonald’s pinch-hit single. An error and a walk loaded the bases and Robert Muro followed with a two-run single off reliever Joey Dawley to cut the lead to 4-3.
But Dawley got his league-leading 17th save by getting Phil Kernan to ground out with two runners on.
It was the eighth consecutive victory for first-place Chico (8-1). The third-place Vigilantes are 3-6.
Terrell Hansen had two run-scoring doubles for Chico and Jose Salcedo had eight strikeouts and gave up one earned run in 8 2/3 innings for the victory. He is 6-3.
