Woman Seriously Injured in Beauty Salon Robbery

A man wearing a red bandanna crept into a Hollywood beauty parlor from a back door Monday, robbed several patrons, then shot and seriously wounded one of the customers, police said.

The lone suspect entered Irma’s Beauty Salon in the 1200 block of North Vermont Avenue shortly after noon and robbed several customers at gunpoint, Los Angeles Police Officer Eduardo Funes said.

“We don’t know whether the victim was not complying with his demand or not, but he shot her in the upper torso,” the police spokesman said. Funes would only say that the victim, a Latina in her late 30s, was taken to a local hospital and that her injuries were “not life-threatening.”

The gunman, described as a Latino male between 25 and 28 wearing a green shirt and blue jeans, was last seen running away on Vermont Avenue, Funes said.
