Mozart Camerata Sets 2-Site Season

The Mozart Camerata has announced it will play five concerts in Newport Beach and two in Irvine for its 1998-99 season.

The Newport Beach location will be St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 600 St. Andrews Drive. The Irvine venue will be the Irvine Barclay Theatre, 4242 Campus Drive. All concerts will be conducted by camerata founder Ami Porat.

Concert date--Due to inaccurate information in the group’s brochure, a story Wednesday about the Mozart Camerata Classical Orchestra’s 1998-99 season included an incorrect date. The orchestra will not play Jan. 23 at the Irvine Barclay Theatre. The other dates in the brochure are correct. Information: (949) 830-2950.

* Sept. 19, 8 p.m. in Irvine; Sept. 20, 4:30 p.m. in Newport Beach: Mozart’s Sinfonia in D, K. 196; Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 2, with soloist Edward Auer; Haydn’s Symphony No. 95.

* Oct. 25, 4:30 p.m., Newport Beach: Mozart’s Allegro in F, K. 138; Domenico Dragonetti’s Contrabass Concerto, with soloist Norman Ludwin; Haydn’s Horn Concerto, with soloist Paul Stevens; Mendelssohn’s Sinfonia No. 8 in D.

* Jan. 23, 8 p.m., Irvine; Jan. 24, 4:30 p.m., Newport Beach: Mozart program, including the Symphony No. 4, K. 19; Violin Concerto No. 4, with soloist Roger Wilkie; and “Jupiter” Symphony.

* March 14, 4:30 p.m., Newport Beach: Hoffman’s Sinfonia in F; Vivaldi’s Cello Concerto in E minor (arranged by Porat) and Haydn’s Cello Concerto in C, with soloist Vage Ayrikian; Haydn’s Symphony No. 49, “La Passione.”

* May 2, 4:30 p.m., Newport Beach: Mozart program, including “Il Re Pastore” Overture; Concertone for Two Violins, with Olivia Tsui and Irina Voloshina; and Symphony No. 30.

The five-concert series at St. Andrew’s is $99 to $119; single tickets, $23 to $29. The two-concert Irvine series is $39 to $69; single tickets, $25 to $29. Information: (949) 830-2950.
