Coach Phil Torres refuses to take too much credit for the success of his team at Crescenta Valley, which plays Saturday in the Southern Section Division I baseball championship game.

After the Falcons (24-3-1) defeated Palmdale, 3-2, in a quarterfinal game, Torres said assistants Darrin Beer, Dave Mendoza and Paul Biggs deserve more credit.

“All I do during the game is manage, [complain] and moan,” Torres said. “Those guys do all the coaching.”
