Trabuco Hills, Sr.

Advanced to state and posted top mark in county in three events. Cleared 19-4 1/4 in the long jump and 5-9 in the high jump at Masters Meet, which were among top marks in state. Won Division II titles in high jump and long jump, Orange County title in long jump.

1,600, 3,200

University, Jr.

Dominated distance events with county-best times by nearly six seconds in the 1,600 (4:55.53) and more than 24 seconds in the 3,200 (10:43.35). Ran season-best time while winning 1,600 at Division III championships. Ran season-best time in 3,200 at Arcadia while finishing third.

Woodbridge, Jr.

Only loss to a county competitor in the 100 came in a Sea View League meet. Two days later, Stone responded with a victory at the Orange County Championships in the 100 (12.15) and 200 (25.02). Capped season with second-place finish in Division II 200 (24.62) and third in 100 (12.08).

Laguna Hills, Jr.

Had the top time in the county (57.10) and proved she was the best by running down Santa Margarita’s Meghan Atkinson to win the Orange County title.

MAIKA NELSON

Brea Olinda, Sr.

County champion was fourth at Masters meet. She ran the county’s second-fastest time at Division III preliminaries (2:14.31), then won division title a week later.

100 high hurdles

Mission Viejo, Sr.

Finished third in state, in her fourth consecutive trip to the state finals. Finished first at Orange County Championships, second in Division II and at Masters Meet.

AMANDA SHANKLIN

300 low hurdles

Santa Margarita, Jr.

Sea View League champion in four events. Won Orange County Championships in 300 hurdles, had county’s top time (43.68) in Masters, finished eighth in state.

SUZANNE LINN

Shotput

Trabuco Hills, Sr.

Won county championship and South Coast League title. Only county thrower with marks over 40 feet in shotput (42-2 1/2) and 140 feet in discus (141-8 1/2).

STACY JARNE

Discus

Esperanza, Sr.

Won Sunset League and Division I titles. Only county thrower to advance to state after finishing fourth at Masters. Produced third-best mark in county (132-2).

Marina, Sr.

Broke Orange County record and finished second in state, clearing 12-4 last weekend. Had set previous county mark (12-1) in dual meet with Esperanza.

Guided Wildcats to second-place finish in Division III. Team had just one individual champion, but scored in nine of 16 events at divisional championships.
