GROUP H: Jamaica vs. Coratia

SITE: Lens

TIME: Noon. TV: Ch. 7, Ch. 34.

* ABOUT JAMAICA: The team has nicknamed itself “UB40” after the British quasi-reggae band--a reference to the eight English imports that helped turned Jamaica from a CONCACAF region pushover into one of 32 World Cup qualifiers. One of them, “Neon” Deon Burton of Derby County, scored four goals in four qualifiers.

* ABOUT CROATIA: Croatian aspirations took a hit when a knee injury knocked striker Alen Boksic out of the tournament, so the bulk of the scoring burden falls to Davor Suker, who had a so-so season for European Champions League winner Real Madrid.

* OUTLOOK: Without Boksic, Croatia could be vulnerable in its opener.
