Paul and Paula Reiser Named Couple of Year

The West Valley Educational Assn. honored actor Paul Reiser, star of the NBC series “Mad About You,” and his wife, Paula, as Couple of the Year at its 11th annual Builder’s Banquet on Monday night.
The two were honored during a dedication of the newly named Max D. Raiskin West Valley Academy. The educational association is an umbrella organization of the Beit Hamidrash of Woodland Hills temple and the academy.
Academy President Alan Shapiro said that when he and Reiser were schoolmates they were influenced by the teachings of Raiskin, who was principal of the private Jewish day school they attended in New York City.
“[Reiser] has supported the school since its creation 12 years ago,” Shapiro said.
The $250-per-plate banquet was also a celebration of renovations to the Beit Hamidrash of Woodland Hills temple. Currently 120 students from kindergarten through eighth grade attend the academy at 5850 Fallbrook Ave.
