4 Receive Fernando Award Scholarships
Four Valley high school seniors have received scholarships from the Fernando Award Foundation totaling $5,000.
Giovanni Giusti of Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, David Ehrenberg of Birmingham High School in Van Nuys, Naomi Santa Maria of Cleveland High School in Reseda and Donnie E. McNeal of Chatsworth High School are the recipients.
This is the second year the Fernando Award Foundation has presented scholarships to graduating high school seniors.
In a statement, Irwin G. Rosenberg, foundation president, said the recipients excelled in the classroom and worked hard for the community.
“We are proud to be able to help them further their education and look forward to their continued community service, helping people in their neighborhoods and throughout the San Fernando Valley.”
In addition, the foundation presented $2,000 to Notre Dame High School.
Organizers eventually would like to expand the scholarship awards program to cover every high school in the Valley and will add a fifth high school to the scholarship program next year.
