Dodgers--Buzzie Bavasi was general manager of the Dodgers from 1950 to 1967, and Fresco Thompson was general manager in 1967. They were omitted in a list of Dodger general managers Tuesday.
* Background: In 30th season with the Dodgers and his 12th as general manager. He took over after Al Campanis was fired in 1987 for controversial remarks about blacks in baseball.
* Awards: Voted the 1988 Baseball Executive of the Year by The Sporting News.

* 1957--Graduated from San Jose State with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
* 1969--Joined the Dodgers as director of publicity after 12 years as a sports editor, columnist and writer for the Long Beach Press-Telegram, Pomona Progress Bulletin and Whittier News.
* 1975--Appointed vice president, public relations and promotions.
* 1982--Appointed executive vice president.
* 1986--Received major league baseball’s Robert O. Fishel Award for public relations excellence.
* 1987--Appointed general manager after Al Campanis was fired for controversial remarks about blacks.
* 1988--In his second season as general manager in 1988, Los Angeles won the World Series with players he acquired, including Kirk Gibson, Mickey Hatcher, Rick Dempsey, Jay Howell, Alfredo Griffin and Tim Belcher.
* 1992-96--Dodgers had the National League rookie of the year in five consecutive seasons (Eric Karros, 1992; Mike Piazza, 1993; Raul Mondesi, 1994; Hideo Nomo, 1995; and Todd Hollandsworth, 1996).
