Body Found Near Hollister but Officials Say It’s Not Girl Sought by Searchers
FBI agents investigating the disappearance of a 13-year-old girl were called in Wednesday after a decomposed female body was found in rural hills.
But Undersheriff Curtis J. Hill of the San Benito Sheriff’s Department later said the body did not appear to be that of Christina Williams, who disappeared more than a week ago about 30 miles away.
Authorities had not yet identified the body, although a preliminary forensics investigation determined that the remains were of a girl and had been left in the remote area near Hollister for several weeks.
“We were able to make a determination in the field. . . . The evidence strongly suggested it is not Christina Williams,” Hill said.
Authorities relied on dental records, Hill said, adding that the clothes on the body were larger than those Williams wore.
