7 pm: TV Festival

The 15th annual William S. Paley Television Festival features programming chosen for its artistic merit, cultural impact and historical significance, with panel discussions and events (many already sold out) through March 16 at the Directors Guild of America. The festival kicked off earlier this week with a discussion and screening of “Lucy Takes a Cruise to Havana,” a rare episode from the “Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Show.” That episode will be screened daily at the Museum of Television & Radio through June 25. Screenings and discussions by stars and creators continue at the DGA this weekend with John Cleese on his “Fawlty Towers” years; “MacGyver”; and “An Evening With Penn and Teller.”

8 pm: Music

American soprano Dawn Upshaw sings music by Lukas Foss, Stravinsky and others in a weekend engagement with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen. This accessible 20th century program also includes music by Revueltas, Copland and Moncayo.

8:15 pm: Dance

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the always big and bold National Ballet of Spain comes to the Universal Amphitheatre with two new works and two familiar to local audiences. “La Vida Breve,” choreographed by Jose Antonio to the classic score by Falla, receives its world premiere during the company’s six-city tour and Antonio Canales’ “Grito” its U.S. premiere. Lola Greco (daughter of Jose I, sister of Jose II) is among the featured dancers.
