Four people were arrested Thursday in connection with an apparent drug-related robbery that escalated into the death of four men at a carwash, police said.

Arrested and booked on charges of murder and attempted murder were Aswad Pops, 27, his brother, Aziz, 22, and Byron Paul Wilson, 20, all of Long Beach, and a 16-year-old Lynwood youth, whose name was not released because he is a juvenile, Compton Police Lt. Danny Sneed said.

Police also believe that the four suspects were involved in the attempted murder of a woman who was shot during a Feb. 6 robbery at her Long Beach home.

Compton investigators worked with the Long Beach police gang enforcement team to identify and find the suspects.

With search and arrest warrants, 60 police officers carried out predawn raids Thursday on four locations in Paramount, Long Beach and Lynwood.

Detectives believe that the four suspects went to Wheel’s N Stuff carwash in Compton Jan. 25 for a drug rip-off that went awry. Shop owner Charles Hurd, 33, of Corona and three employees, Michael Hoard, 41, Shawn Potter, 20, and Jessie Dunn, 36, all of Compton, were killed in the robbery.
