Selanne Says He Feels ‘Scary Good’

Share

Odds are good Teemu Selanne will be back in the lineup for the Ducks tonight against the San Jose Sharks. A decision will be made after this morning’s workout.

“It’s 50-50,” Selanne said. “Maybe 60-40.”

Selanne, who leads the NHL with 41 goals, has been sidelined for four games because of strained abdominal muscles. He practiced at full speed with teammates Thursday for the first time since returning from the Olympics.

“I felt scary good,” he said after the workout. “I was surprised how good I felt. It’ll be so much fun to play again. I’m optimistic now, more than usual.”

Guy Hebert is scheduled to start in goal tonight, ending Mikhail Shtalenkov’s string of three consecutive starts. Hebert looked rusty in the Ducks’ 5-2 loss Feb. 25 to the Vancouver Canucks and has been getting intensive tutoring from goalie consultant Francois Allaire.
