Titans Rally to Sweep Series
Cal State Fullerton pulled out an 8-5 victory over Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Sunday to sweep the three-game Big West Conference baseball series at San Luis Obispo.
The Mustangs (6-20, 0-6) took a 5-0 lead after three innings. Cal State Fullerton (18-6, 6-0) scored three runs in the seventh. The Titans went ahead, 7-5, in the eighth, when they added three runs. They scored another run in the ninth.
Titan leadoff batter Reed Johnson led the comeback, finishing three for five with five RBIs and three runs. He had two home runs and 13 RBIs in the three-game series.
Benito Flores, who pitched a complete game, improved his record to 5-0. The Mustangs’ Mike Zirelli, despite striking out nine, dropped to 2-6.
