Police Search for Clues in Death of Man Found on Sidewalk
Detectives on Tuesday still had not determined a motive for the shooting death of a man found on the sidewalk in the 1400 block of Cedar Avenue.
Officers received a call at 11:38 p.m. Monday reporting that a man was lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. Tyrone Lavan Thomas, 29, of Long Beach, was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center where he died.
Police arrested Jesus Munguia, 19, of Long Beach, who matched a description of Thomas’ assailant. Munguia was booked on suspicion of murder. Investigators are attempting to determine what circumstances prompted the shooting.
