A two-run sixth proved to be decisive as Dana Hills upset third-ranked Mater Dei, 6-5, in a South Coast League baseball game Friday at Mater Dei.

Chris Weber led off the inning with a single and moved to third on Jason Joho’s single. A single by Adam Green and a subsequent throwing error enabled Weber to score and Joho to move to third. Joho scored on a sacrifice fly by Paul Hindman and the Dolphins (14-7, 7-4) took a one-run lead.

Mater Dei (17-4, 9-2) threatened in the sixth with runners on second and third and one out. Starter Sean Fluent was able to induce two pop outs to end the inning. Fluent retired the Monarchs in order in the seventh to improve to 5-2.
