Matthews on a Hot Streak but Forced to Cool His Heels

Gary Matthews (Granada Hills High, Mission College) is batting .395 for double-A Mobile, Ala.

Matthews, however, has missed five games with a strained ligament in his right wrist and won’t return for about a week. A similar injury to his left wrist sidelined Matthews for a month last season. He has 30 hits, 25 runs batted in and eight extra-base hits among 76 at-bats.
